Baked Stone Fruits with Asian Pears – Baby Food Recipe for Fruit Compote

One of the easiest and quickest methods of preparing fresh, delicious homemade foods for babies is to bake or roast the foods.  Baking foods is one of the best ways to retain the most nutrients and when it comes to fruits and vegetables, baking or roasting is also the best method for bringing out the greatest flavor and natural sweetness.  Stone fruits such as peaches, apricots and plums are great first foods for babies and these fruits really bake nicely.   For this puree I baked 2 peaches, 2 plums and 2 asian peaches.  The end result of these baked fruits is a subtly sweet puree that pairs well with yogurt, cereal, meats and even vegetables like sweet potato or butternut squash.

Turn this puree for baby into a lovely dessert or snack treat for the big kids in the house.  Warm the puree and spoon it over frozen vanilla yogurt or vanilla ice cream.  If you want to be really decadent, crumble up some ginger snap cookies and sprinkle generously over the frozen dessert; finish with a drizzle of warm carmel sauce.  Now that’s the way to make homemade baby food!
