Apple Cider Rice Cooker Oatmeal – For Babies from 6-8 Months

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups of apple cider
  • 2/3 cup of water
  • 1 1/4 cups of rolled oats - I used steel cut
  • don’t use quick cook oatmeal or the recipe won’t turn out well – trust me!
  • shake of cinnamon
  • shake of nutmeg
  • pinch of powdered vanilla
  • handful of raisins or dates or chopped apples
  • above are optional – if using the raisins and/or dates remove them if serving to baby!

Instructions

  • Lightly butter the rice cooker pot then combine all ingredients in the rice cooker and stir well
  • Close the cover and push the switch to cook
  • After 10 minutes, carefully open the rice cooker and give the oatmeal a quick stir, close and continue cooking.
  • Oatmeal is done when the cooking switch flips to off/keep/warm or whatever it does on your rice cooker (I have an Aroma 8 cup cooker, nothing fancy and only $24.95). Allow to stand for 5-10 minutes after cooking.

Notes

I use steel cut oats when I make this recipe. The texture is a bit more chewy than you may want a younger baby to try. You can puree as needed.
